"Nice Hotel - but missing some basics"
October 2018
First of all - This hotel was sold out on every other website and direct, so a BIG thanks for Reserve Orlando. The good: friendly staff, cute themeing, good free breakfast, includes premium parking for the park. The bad: the pool closes in the middle of the day 12-4pm and no daily housekeeping service with minimum stays. We would stay again when we visit Legoland because the price was a good value.

Tip: good breakfast, pool closes midday, free premium parking for legoland.

Tip: The conveniences of a hotel are lacking a bit at the beach retreat, but it was nothing that affected our trip in a negative way.

We are Legoland passholders, but the theme park is a little bit of a drive for us, so we decided to try staying at the beach retreat while the Christmas event was going on since the park is open later. We arrived at the hotel, which is just a very short drive away after leaving the park at closing time. There was no wait at the drive-through check-in. This was an easy alternative to getting out of the car to check in as at most hotels. I was pleased to hear that they gave us a bungalow in the cove which I requested. After finding a parking space (it was difficult, because my husband‘s truck would not fit in the spaces) we went to our room. I’ve heard others complain about having to bring their luggage a distance. I did see luggage carts in designated areas which we were able to use, but since we did not have much luggage we did not. I was very pleased with our bungalow. The lego beach theme is very well done and very cute! Zero complaints on the cleanliness, which is the most important thing I look for in a hotel. It was decent sized, and my kids loved having their own curtained off area and bunkbeds. My husband said he wishes there was a door instead of just a curtain, so we could watch TV and not have to worry about waking the children, but I couldn’t complain since I knew this is what we were getting from the photos I saw when I booked the hotel. Kids beds each had a mini Lego building set waiting for them, and there were Duplo blocks in the room to be used as well. Mini fridge in the room, and two waters and honest brand apple juices. These were restocked each day, which I was pleased to see, because many hotels only seem to have these on the day you arrive. The next day the children played on the little playground in the middle of the Cove area as we got ready. We propped the door open as they played outside, and some other families from our Cove did the same. Then we went to the complementary buffet breakfast. We waited 10 to 15 minutes to be seated. Decent breakfast, with lots of options. The last bowl was taken as I walked up, and was never able to find a bowl to have oatmeal, even after asking a few employees. There were to go cups by the coffee, which I appreciated. We loved the French toast sticks. We recently found out that my son is lactose intolerant, and when we were being seated they asked if there were any food allergies. When I told them about his intolerance they offered me two different types of lactose-free milk, which I thought was really great! This was our first hotel visit since we realized his issue, so I don’t know if this is common. We drove to the park. There was a shuttle, but since we have free parking we thought it would be easier to drive so we could come and go as we please. That night when we return we went to walk around the pool and playground to explore. We were immediately greeted by two employees (the female we recognized from a show we had seen at the park that day!) who told us about the fun events that would be taking place that evening. My kids played at the playground as they waited for the events to start (it was too cold for the pool). There were also some different balls available to play with and a fire pit which I was told they sold somemore kits at (I think we were inside when this took place). We went inside and played in the Lego area in the restaurant. A Lego character visited for photos. Then my kids participated in a game with the two staff members. The female was really great with the kids. They told us they would be playing another game in about 30 minutes, so we went back to the LEGO build area. I kept waiting to see someone return, but no one ever did. When I walked out I saw that the restaurant was full and bingo was being played there. I went and asked the male employee if my kids could join. He seemed flustered and said that was the restaurant area. So I asked if the games are only for restaurant costumers and he told me to ask one of the restaurant employees to give us a table. So I did. She rudely told me that she could not give me a seat if we were not eating. I apologized and told her I understood and I had only asked because the other employee told me too. My children were disappointed. The original two employees must’ve realize that they made a mistake and found us later and apologized and gave each of the children a Lego mini figure. Overall, I was very happy with the hotel and it is a fun family friendly hotel. No major issues other than with the nightly activities on the first night.

I had not been to Legoland in many years (this hotel was not yet built). I went with family, so we were able to get two sides to a bungalow. We were promptly checked in and allowed early access to our rooms. We quickly brought our luggage in and checked out the room before heading to the park. What a great room. Small in size, but clean, neat and perfect layout. You get a king bed in the main room with a closet, dresser and fridge (built in to the wall), bathroom is a decent size and a small alcove with bunk beds and a trundle. Only a curtain separates that alcove from the main room, but still nice.Lego themed curtains, shower curtain. Legos in the room to play with. On each bed is a small lego kit to build a small figure. Fridge is supplied with complementary 2 water bottles and 2 honest apple juices. We then hopped back in the car and headed to the park. They have a shuttle but we opted to take car since it is free to park. My only issue was parking - there is a lot on each side of the resort and depending on which area you are in, it can be a bit of a hike to your room with your luggage. The main restaurant had decent food. Enough options to choose from and reasonable priced. Suggest reservations for Fri or Sat evenings. They had a lego man come out to greet kids during dinner. We were there on a sat night and there was a beach party. Dancing, games, singing with staff. Fun for the kids. This is also where they offer the free breakfast buffet. Plenty of food options, fresh food, great staff. The pool is a nice setup - heated pool, large, with a large area that is shallow. Plenty of life vests for the young kids and rubber legos to build with. There are lounge chairs all around. There is a sand area so you feel like you are on the beach with games to play. Only other issue was the pool did not open until 11 AM. Seems late when the resort if filled with young kids that are typically up early. Such a reasonable price for a very fun resort. Great for young kids. We liked better than the hotel right outside the park. This resort allowed for playgrounds, and more activities. Each section is made up of about 8 bungalows and a playground in the center. They have a calendar of activities for the day and night. Would highly recommend.

"Kid Friendly Resort"

Great kid friendly resort with many details that really stand out. The rooms have bunk beds with a seperate room for the kids, bathrooms have hooks where kids can reach, no slam toilet lids, potty training seats built in and juice pouches replaced everyday. The restaurant is super kid friendly with a play area of LEGOs and super kid friendly menu. They are also very allergy friendly - they send out someone from the kitchen and will make special food for you. The breakfast buffet is full of choices and the food is better than just powdered eggs and floppy bacon. They even made special food for my wife's gluten allergy instead of just letting her pick non-gluten items on the existing buffet. We did have a few bumps with service - some food got sent back due to burgers not being cooked fully but they quickly fixed and apologized for the problem. The second night we had to call 3 times to get towels and the third night we had to request towels - but it was fixed on first call. Not sure why the towels were a challenge. They brought us a microwave promptly to reheat leftovers the last night. Check out was super easy - just leave before checkout time. All staff were super friendly. Food was good not just normal "hotel" food. I recommend the dinner package and smore's pack.

We stayed here for 3 nights during the holidays. Family of 5 with 3 kids under 12. The room was super cute, but I found it to be a little on the small size. There was no couch or chairs, only the beds so TV time after a day out and about had us all squeezed on the bed. The kids loved the pool and the playground. The breakfast buffet was on point. The only thing I got to say was the eggs had a seriously bad after taste. We had purchased the upgraded meal package which included dinner. Chicken was a little dry, but the steak and shrimp were tasty. It rained just about our entire stay, which was a drag, but we still made the best of it. Rooms were clear and staff were fantastic.

I booked a stay at the Beach Retreat for my family of 4 while planning a couple of days at Legoland. I was so impressed! The bungalows are cute, and I love that each little grouping of bungalows has a playground in the center. My sons met and played with other kids that were staying there, and they all had so much fun together! My two boys loved the bunk beds. The rooms aren't huge but it's big enough and the theming and decor is so fun! The pool was fantastic, we really enjoyed our evening swim! The complementary breakfast buffet was the best free breakfast I've ever had at any hotel or resort. The staff at the buffet were so friendly, without being over the top. I really appreciated the to-go coffee cups as well as the availability of to-go boxes, as half of my family slept in, but I was able to take out some food for them to enjoy back in the room. One night we were too tired for anything much, so we tried the take out pizza available on site. It was surprisingly good! We all raved about it! To wrap it up, I highly recommend this hotel for families, and we will definitely return!
