"See Paradise In One Day"
November 2018
Larry and the San Diego Beach Tour were an excellent way to see what everyone comes to San Diego for; the beaches and coastline. Larry was so informative and went the extra mile to drive us back to our hotel at the end of the day-telling us wonderful San Diego stories of its history and culture. I would highly recommend the San Diego Beach Tours!

Tip: When traveling in November the daytime temperatures are good for shorts or capris and the night time temperatures feel better with pants or jeans.

"Great Way to get an overview of top tourist spots in San Diego without moving your car"

My husband, 20s daughter and sons took the one day hop on hop off tour of San Diego on a Saturday in August. We parked in a paid lot in Old Town. Although we had purchased our tickets (discounted) online, you could also purchase at this official start/end point for the circuit. The open-air trolleys run from 9 to 5 pm and cover 25 miles of the city. You can hop on and off as frequently as you wish but it don''t think it is possible to get off at each stop and tour the area in the one day. This is a great overview of what the city has to offer while visiting a few favorite sights. The rides have live narrators giving you lots of tidbits about the sights you drive past. Shout outs to Howie and Patricia who were both very entertaining. Each stop had a representative keeping track of the number of people waiting to board. Twice the rep called to get an extra trolley because of the large number of people waiting to get on. This efficiency was much appreciated. We parked our car around 9:30, got our stickers from the representative and immediately boarded a trolley without exploring Old Town. This worked really well because we spent several hours at the end of our day touring old town. We chose to get off at the Midway first and walked along to the Bob Hope memorial and other sights in that area before re-boarding. We next got off Gaslamp quarter and found a restaurant for lunch. After re-boarding, we stayed on the trolley which drove us over the bridge to Coronado Island, through Balboa Park, and Little Italy. This overview allowed us to plan where to explore more fully on another day. We were able to visit some of the museums and old buildings in Historic Old Town when we finished the tour around 4 pm. This was also a great place for some shopping, some old fashioned root beer floats and dinner!

The Old Town Trolley is a great way to see the sites of San Diego and Coranado. There are several places that you can get off and roam around and then get back on to continue your adventure. When we went our first guide was not very good, so we got off and got on the next trolley and our guide was Fantastic. We live here but we learned so much. If you're in San Diego I suggest you take the Old Town Trolley.

"Be prepared"

Overall this is a very nice tour. However, be prepared that at any given time once you get off there is a good possibility you may have to wait to get back on. We were waiting at our hotel when a couple told us that the trolley just left but they didn't have room so the next one coming should have room. Well the next one came and it only had room for 4 people so we had to wait. This happen more than once so if you don't mind waiting anywhere from 10-20 minutes for another trolley to come then you will be fine. The tour guys/Conductors we had ( 4) were for the most part amazing. The first guy we had ( forgot his name) was really nice he had a picture of his golden retriever by his tip hat. Then we had Rodney super nice guy. He had to talk over screaming children but he handled it very professionally. Then there was Tim with his 7000 jokes he was a cool cat! We also endured Boxcar who rough around the edges and reminded us of a Catholic nun. He actually reprimanded people for talking and waited like a nun would till they stopped talking. Not cool :( He was knowledgeable. But hey these are grown ups they can tell each other to please quiet down so they can hear what you are saying. People do not have to be shamed. I would recommend this tour just prepare yourself that you may have to wait it out.
