"Great experience!"
August 2019 NEW
first time at Kings dominion, and we all had a bast. Though we checked the forecast and there was no rain in the forecast, a storm came through and we had to leave early, so we didn't get to all the rides we wanted to or get to the water park, however, we had fun on the park and the rides that we were able to go on.

Tip: if possible do not get a one-day ticket, just in case it rains, or if you do get a one-day ticket and it rains, wait it out in one of the eat-in areas, so the fun does not have to end because of the weather

"Fantastic Family Time"
August 2019
Kings Dominion is the best time for a quick getaway. Using Tripster was the best way to make that getaway. We love to take a quick 2 day trip down to Virginia to ride the amazing coasters at Kings Dominion and this was our first time using Tripster. What a fantastic Deal we got. I have praised the deal we got to everyone I have met (even strangers in line at the MVA). I will never use any other way. My children love Kings Dominion better than Disney and for the price, I'll take that.

Tip: Get there When the park opens and ride the big coasters first. Then head to the water part at 12. Cool off for a few hours, then get back to the coasters. That way, you don't wait in long lines.

We enjoyed our first ever visit in August with our twin 2 year olds. The park appealed to us because of the specially designated children's section. There were many rides suitable for our twins. We visited on a particularly hot day, so there were not many people, which meant no waiting in long lines (bonus). We would definitely visit again if in the area and recommend it as great full day activity, especially if you have very young children.

Our last visit in July 2014 was great! What a difference 5 years can make. Overall very disappointed this time. I just felt as if the park is very run down, dirty and not properly maintained. And talking to locals they all said it has been going downhill over the last few years. The bathrooms were awful and most of the restaurants left a lot to be desired. I understand its end of summer season and they were understaffed - but still no excuse for running out of food, ice, utensils and then taking so long after you tell someone to actually get what you need. No urgency in any staff members what so ever. The rides are fun but even some of them need some upkeep. We had an issue where a bee ended up in my daughters soda cup bc they cant control the bee issue at the soda stations. I understand they are outside but if they kept the area clean it would at least cut down on it. When to guest services to tell them bc had it been my husband - he is allergic and that would have been a whole different conversation. My daughter told the lady it was in her mouth and she thought it was ice and then spit it out. The lady said that's gross. And then just sat there. Then she says Oh would you like to see a manager? I was like um yes I would. I wasn't looking for anything more than acknowledge the issue and fix it but I know usually most places offer something - they did nothing at all. Didn't even offer to replace her soda. As CF Platinum pass holders we went to a lot of the parks this year. This one by far was the worst experience. Will be a while before we need to visit again.

Went on Sunday before labor day. Arrived at 10:30. Parked and entry was a breeze. Twisted Timbers first to avoid the lines. Kids favorite ride in the park. Rode all morning. Good times. Lunch was a disaster. Theme park food lines are insane. Too expensive and feel like the service is poor. Hour long wait for food court food. Next time, we will pack a picnic and eat outside the park. Cirque show was good and a nice break. It was a hot day. We went the two water rides. One looked like it was broken for months. The rapids were a 45 minute line. It was a fun ride but would not wait that long again. Considering it was the end of the season, the employees were friendly enough. We will go back next year.

Cedar Fair loves to say they have so many coasters, however that’s including kiddie coasters and coasters such as Grizzly that is so rough. The whole park smelled of deep-fried food and cigarettes. It reminded me of an upscale fair. If you are going to one park in Virginia, opt for Busch Gardens! It’s way nicer and has better rides.
