"Holiday Inn Express - DO NOT stay/use underground parking"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed January 20, 2020 NEW
Overall, the stay at the Holiday Inn was clean, nice and convenient to the downtown area. Unfortunately, when I checked out in the morning, I was informed that my car had been broken into. The employee/manager did not do much nor accommodate me in this situation as it was a "third party" company that manages the underground parking that also is open to the public. They could not provide me with any video footage of this happening either. The only thing they gave me was the police department number to report the incident. Although, I did not have to pay the parking fee in the end, they did initially tell me it was a $30.00 parking fee when I checked in but I was charged $50.00 on my credit card at the time. My back car window was completely smashed in with my laptop, camera and other items stolen, the entire car was flipped inside out. However, the hotel did manage to mysteriously find my laptop case that "security" had found and left at the front desk. I completely understand the fact that the hotel makes it clear to all their guests that they are not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged items. Also to take all your personal belongings out of your vehicle which I definitely should have done to begin with but I have stayed at many hotels and this was the first time that I ever had to sign off a waiver explaining parking in very specific detail - so from this reason alone I feel as though they have had many problems in the past with break ins and belongings being stolen. The hotel should be making HUGE changes with this type of situation by having their own parking that is secure, safe and security is on the premise 24/7. As I figure now security could have had something to do with the break in and that alone makes this a huge problem especially when staying at a nice and expensive hotel downtown. I paid +$200 to stay one night at this hotel, and I should be able to know that everything I am paying for is going to exceed my expectations and be confident that my car is parked in a safe place. The hotel and its management failed to accommodate me in any way with this as this should be their number one priority for their guest while staying. I highly recommend not staying here and choosing a better hotel within the area also not parking your car in this underground parking, you will not be compensated in anyway! There are no other parking options then this when staying and the fact that it is not managed by the hotel itself makes you question where your vehicle is parked while staying. A good night downtown turned into a nightmare because of this hotel and its poor hospitality.

"Great central spot for jazz lovers"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed January 12, 2020 NEW
We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Downtown a few times as it is central enough for inexpensive cab/Uber rides and the rooms are recently renovated. Breakfast was included in our stay and it's a good mix of hot and continental. However, this time we were going because it is central to the Jazz Bistro and Reservoir Lounge. It's great when your hotel is surrounded by incredible restaurants/markets/unique clubs.
