"Not up to standards of most Hilton Hotels"

The hotel is not like any other Hilton where I stayed. I am a diamond member and I have stayed at Hilton Hotels all over the world for many years. When I entered the lobby, I was not sure I was in the lobby The lobby has an odd entrance with a small door at the top of some steps There are no address numbers at the entrance. In order to access the lobby, it is necessary to pass through a small door from the street. As it turned out, the lobby was not where my assigned room was. I was assigned a room in the section of the hotel that has its own entrance and is across the lobby. I was not given any instructions on how to reach the room. I eventually found other people in the hotel who advised me to go across to another section of the hotel and find a small elevator that took me to my assigned room. The room was okay but lacked even basic items. There was no snacks or water or anything edible in the room In the morning, I decided to try the breakfast. Finding the restaurant was not an easy task. Contrary to what is supposed to be offered to Diamond members, there was no hot breakfast unless a payment was made to the hotel. I am not clear how and why this particular Hilton can violate the terms of benefits shown in writing to Hilton Diamond members Another unusual item about the hotel is the parking. Parking in the area is at a premium. When I arrived at the hotel, the only entrance for parking was blocked off which meant that I had to look for a street parking spot. Finally, after about fifteen minutes of looking driving around, I found a street parking spot. When I walked back to the hotel, I noticed the sign that blocked the parking area had been removed. The area where the hotel is located is extremely busy at night. There are many restaurants in the neighborhood. Given my experience with so many nice Hilton Hotels, I don't recommend this particular Hilton because of the crowded location and the odd parking and lack of organization. Another thing I thought was odd was when exiting the hotel from the "loft" area, it is possible to exit the hotel without any security or even passing through that odd room called the lobby. Given that homeless people hang around the area, I would expect that security would be provided to the "loft" area. But it wasn't when I was there. Bottom line, the hotel is not terrible but if you compare it with other Hilton hotels, it ranks at the bottom of what is usually offered by Hilton. The hotel served its purpose even though it was a somewhat unprofessional experience.

Stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp for a quick weekend getaway. The Hilton Gaslamp is very convenient to gaslamp bars and restaurants. We parked the car (valet only) when we checked in and never used it again till we checked out, walking distance to everything, Petco park, seaport, convention center, etc. From the front desk, bell service to the restaurant staff was always helpful and friendly. Can’t wait to come again and stay longer

"Excellent location, excellent staff, hotel not quite"

As a UK based Hilton gold member bringing my family on our first US 'road trip' as a change from our usual favourites in Asia, I booked our entire trip around Hilton properties from arrival in New York to our 3rd week in San Diego and Anaheim. Upon arrival to our room, my wife expressed her disappointment at the small room with dreadful view of a courtyard. As we were here for 5 nights she asked me to check out and move us to the bay front Hilton property. Instead I responded to the SMS that management sent and let them know I wasnt happy. I was asked if I could speak to Sue on reception who would assist. Sue was absolutely outstanding, she explained that the hotel was fully booked and there was nothing that could be done until the next morning, at which point she promised to move us to a hhonors floor single room suite with sofa bed for our young children. I could not ask for more. We moved to the room the next day and whilst the view from the 10th floor was still slightly obstructed, it was bright and airy, and the extra space was appreciated. The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect, and more importantly the staff were quite simply amazing. Special thanks to Sue, the reception supervisor for her wonderful advice, to Kristin and Stephen at breakfast for looking after our children each day, and for Lourdes, the maid, who brought a smile every day. Lesson learned, don't leave the hotel then complain, let them know you're not happy and give them chance to rectify the issue. The only negative feedback is that knowing we had booked so far in advance the hotel should have anticipated our arrival and expectations based on the standard of reward booking we had reserved, rather than assigning a sub standard room for our arrival. Last comment, the air con units in both rooms we had seemed to be old and noisy however didnt warrant complaining about. Overall, a great stay made even better by fantastic staff, we will be back!

"Not awesome. Just okay."

We went for 6 nights. 5th floor, King bed and a small sized room overlooked the convention center. First impression was average. First night, the trains woke us up. They can be quite loud when they stop and start moving. Staff was friendly. Restaurant was pricy. Overall I'd say there are better options in the Gaslamp quarter. The Omni (my favorite), Hard Rock, or even the Hilton Bayfront beat this one.
