"Quiet and Accommodating"

Our stay at the Grand Smokies Resort was pleasant. The in-room jacuzzi was nice, and the water was very hot. The king-size bed and pillows were exceptionally comfortable. The hotel could definitely use a major cleaning. The exterior is dirty. The room itself was acceptable as far as cleanliness.

We absolutely love staying at this hotel we plan on staying there again we've actually started saving for next trip the hotel staff was extremely nice very courteous the rooms were impeccably clean and the maid service was extremely thorough I couldn't find it dirt anywhere the hotel's location was in a great spot as well it was right in the heart of Pigeon Forge within walking distance of the islands and several shopping complexes as well as it had an amazing restaurant in the same parking lot and a Cracker Barrel right across the street me and my husband are both smokers and they actually have a smoking section in the hotel so people don't have to linger outside at their cars it's very nice I really enjoyed my stay and my husband was actually impressed with the hotel which says a lot cuz it takes a lot to impress him overall I would give this hotel 9 out of 10 the only reason why I would give it a nine there not a pet-friendly Hotel

"Not Horrible"
May 2018
We checked into our room and opened out the pull out bed that our toddler son was going to sleep in and found dirty clothes. After going to the front desk we were moved to another room on the same floor. While this room was cleaner then the previous room it was outdated and could definitely use some TLC and updates. There were two microwaves in the room, apparently because the over the range one was not working. We didn't try using the other one. We actually only used the frig in our room and none of the other appliances. The shower/tub didnt have a drain plug so we ended up just giving our toddler sponge bathes and washed his hair with a plastic cup, but probably wouldn't have wanted him sitting in the tub anyways. The bed was supposed to be a queen but was actually a double and not very comfortable. The mattress on the pull out was very thin, but didn't seem to bother our toddler (I don't think a larger kid would have been comfortable sleeping on it.)

The indoor pool was AWESOME and it has a water slide. The Wood Grill Buffet outside of the lodge was very good (only had breakfast there) and it was reasonably priced. The location is great for attractions just a short drive to everything, and a trolley stop right outside.

Overall this place could use a little updating, but it was decent for the price. We would stay again

"Very Disappointed"

Was excited for a family getaway. But once we entered this hotel it all went down hill. Our reservations were canceled, we had a confirmation email from months ago. But don’t worry, no apology or compensation was made for that. The front desk was very unprofessional and should not be correcting another co-worker as people stand by and watch. Should have took that as a sign. Upon entering the room there was popcorn on the floor, stains on the bed, no toilet paper and a broken toilet lid. Just felt very uncomfortable and dirty. Outside of hotel is rundown. We parked on the back lot below our room where we watched employees smoke all hours of the day. Come on! We paid a decent amount of money for a rundown hole in the wall. Spirit of the Smokies, you are right on the strip and in the middle of everything. You need to get some proper training for your employees and clean that place up! We couldn’t even take our shoes off we were so uncomfortable. Would NEVER stay here again.

"Older Hotel"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

This is an older hotel in Pigeon Forge that needs some renovations especially for those using canes and handicapped wheelchair bound individuals. First of all, there is a curb going into the front entrance and NOT a graduated incline to push wheelchair into the hotel. Secondly, the front entrance needs electric opening doors. It was a struggle and difficult for me using a cane to open one of the doors without assistance. I’m quite surprised that the ADA has not intervened in this lack of handicap necessity at this hotel. A dollar off coupon was given for restaurant next door for breakfast. I had a jacuzzi tub room and tiles were coming off the bottom of the tub. I heard a noise coming from the bathroom late at night and investigated. It was the plumbing backing up into the bathroom sink and foul smelling. Eventually it stunk up the hotel room. Even a lot of Febreeze couldn’t touch the foul smell. Room rug had stains on it and after walking barefoot on the rug, the bottom of my feet were nasty. Refrigerator in room was nasty Hotel internet was sporadic. I will not be staying at this hotel again.

"Filthiest hotel ever"

NOPE. Nope. Nope. I’ve never written a review here before, but people need to know what they’re getting into. The only reason I stayed in this hotel was because of my family’s reunion. It was filthy. Fingernails on the floor by the bed. Smoke detector missing. Crumbs and dust on all the surfaces. Stains on bedding/lamp shades. Only one light worked. Exposed wiring in the bathroom light fixtures. Hair (not mine) on the bathroom floor from the time I arrived to the time I checked out. The bucket under the sink in the ground floor ladies room capturing the water leaking out of the drain. When I checked out, they said they were having problems with the cleaning crew, but this place is seriously, systematically neglected. Ugh.

"All I can say is cheapest around"

I guess you get what you pay for goes without saying. I have never given one star before till now. Check in lady was not courteous but rather condescending. Keys provided would not open the door which should have been a clue to flee the area. The green chairs in the rooms appear to be a bio hazard and should have been replaced years ago. I will say the bed was clean and the bathroom clean. Nothing else positive other than choose another option unless you want cheap.

"Very Dirty room, big disappointment"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5
Reviewed June 24, 2019 NEW
We stayed in a king room with jacuzzi tub and were really looking forward to a 2 night baby moon/anniversary trip. As soon as we walked into the room you could smell smoke (non smoking Hotel). The carpet was stained in many places, there were hairs on the bathroom floor, the jacuzzi tub was dirty with soap scum like it hadn’t been cleaned well at all. The air conditioner also had trouble our whole stay. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone up to spray an “industrial type febreeze” and clean our tub while we went out to dinner. We called to let them know we were leaving and then they informed us they couldn’t clean it if we weren’t in the room because the maintenance man had been accused of stealing before and didn’t want to go through that again. So we called when we returned (again the smell of smoke was lingering in our room and we don’t smoke) and he came to “clean”. He sprayed some standard Lysol which was a little much for me because I’m pregnant and very sensitive to smells (which is why we wanted it done while we were gone) then he wiped down the tub. He was a nice guy. All evening the neighboring room was loud and rambunctious. We tried to not complain because we get it- people want to have fun on vacation. The next morning we saw the maid and asked if she could please give our room an extra good cleaning because we felt it was filthy (my husband had noticed there were booger’s wiped all over the wall and I noticed semen on the picture above the bed). When we got back all she had done was throw our bed together and replace a roll of toilet paper. That night things got ridiculous. The neighbors were yelling and screaming, singing at the top of their lungs, drinking, using a blender, banging walls, out in the hallway I guess going back and forth with people they knew across the hall, and I believe they were smoking because the smell kept getting worse,,etc. Around 11:30 we finally called the front desk. I’m not sure if they called or came up but I guess they addressed these people. The noise stopped for maybe 5 minutes then started back and went into the morning hours. We didn’t want to call again and risk these people targeting us so we turned on a white noise maker and attempted to sleep. We had to get up early, but amazingly the loud neighbors were up before us making a ruckus. There were bags and bags of trash and empty alcohol boxes in the hall as we left our room. We called to ask for a late check out because we didn’t sleep well and they said we could have till noon. When I attempted to get back in my room the key had been disabled. I had to walk back to the front desk and get it re-keyed. Super frustrating considering they gave us the late check out and I’m 31 weeks pregnant. Upon check out we let the front desk know how disappointed we were. After about a 10 min wait the manager came out front and went to the room with my husband. He acknowledged the filth we reported, even acknowledging the boogers and semen and lack of cleaning as well as the smell of smoke. He also told my husband pigeon forge has an ordinance that says people have to calm down after 10:30. When my husband came back to the front desk with the manager, the manager assured him he would make it right. Then he disappeared for about 15-20 min while we waited. When he returned he said the best he could do was an extra 15% discount since we were already getting the 10% returning customer discount. Essentially he was refunding us $30 on a $220 stay. With the acknowledgement of how disgusting the room was we were shocked he wouldn’t do more. He proceeded to tell us they had done their due diligence and said we could have a 15% discount next time we stay. My husband tried to make him realize a $30 refund did not seem fair considering all the issues. He was unwilling to see it from our point of view. We will never stay here again. The hotel is ill-kept and filthy. I even saw mold on the Ice machine. You expect at least a clean room when you’re paying over $200 to celebrate big milestones in your life. And when that doesn’t happen, because we understand things happen, you expect a company to do everything they can to make it up to you and earn your business back. We were severely disappointed in this hotel and we won’t be back. We will also be letting our friends and family know about our experience and encourage them not to return either. They wanted us to sign a form stating we were satisfied with how our issue was handled but my husband refused. They said normally they won’t do the refund unless you sign but they had already issued it, so luckily we got our refund. We weren’t trying to get anything free or cause a fuss; we didn’t even take pictures of the nastiness because he assured us he was going to make things right. We are just severely disappointed in the way this was handled and this establishment in general. The whole situation was uncomfortable and unnecessary.
