September 2018
We absolutely love staying at this hotel we plan on staying there again we've actually started saving for next trip the hotel staff was extremely nice very courteous the rooms were impeccably clean and the maid service was extremely thorough I couldn't find it dirt anywhere the hotel's location was in a great spot as well it was right in the heart of Pigeon Forge within walking distance of the islands and several shopping complexes as well as it had an amazing restaurant in the same parking lot and a Cracker Barrel right across the street me and my husband are both smokers and they actually have a smoking section in the hotel so people don't have to linger outside at their cars it's very nice I really enjoyed my stay and my husband was actually impressed with the hotel which says a lot cuz it takes a lot to impress him overall I would give this hotel 9 out of 10 the only reason why I would give it a nine there not a pet-friendly Hotel

"Not Horrible"
May 2018
We checked into our room and opened out the pull out bed that our toddler son was going to sleep in and found dirty clothes. After going to the front desk we were moved to another room on the same floor. While this room was cleaner then the previous room it was outdated and could definitely use some TLC and updates. There were two microwaves in the room, apparently because the over the range one was not working. We didn't try using the other one. We actually only used the frig in our room and none of the other appliances. The shower/tub didnt have a drain plug so we ended up just giving our toddler sponge bathes and washed his hair with a plastic cup, but probably wouldn't have wanted him sitting in the tub anyways. The bed was supposed to be a queen but was actually a double and not very comfortable. The mattress on the pull out was very thin, but didn't seem to bother our toddler (I don't think a larger kid would have been comfortable sleeping on it.)

The indoor pool was AWESOME and it has a water slide. The Wood Grill Buffet outside of the lodge was very good (only had breakfast there) and it was reasonably priced. The location is great for attractions just a short drive to everything, and a trolley stop right outside.

Overall this place could use a little updating, but it was decent for the price. We would stay again

"AWFUL"
April 2018
Shower Curtain was moldy all along the bottom. Toilet did not flush properly, had to hold it down for it to completely flush. Had shampoo, but no conditioner, called front desk and asked if they had some to use that night and she said no walk across the street to CVS. Bath towels were not changed out the first day. Had to go to the front desk for fresh towels and the lady at the desk was not nice at all, it really seemed to bother her that I needed clean towels. Towels are so thin you can see through them and very rough to the touch. The outdoor pool is absolutely disgusting, I totally get that you do not use those pools anymore because of your new indoor water area, but either drain the pools, cover them, or keep them clean. The water was disgusting and covered in sludge. That was my view! Even the poor duck didn't get in that water! The indoor pool area, was nice for the kids. The amount of chlorine in the water and the air was overwhelming. Use some of that chlorine in your outdoor pools.
Got locked out of our room. Had to walk to the front desk 4 times before we finally flagged down a maintenance man in the hall who was able to help us. The front desk was adamant that it was the batteries in the lock.... it was not, they had us checking out on the same day we checked in, so the keys were not valid. They never offered to come up and help. However, the Maintenance man was GREAT!

"Pools not useable"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5
Reviewed May 23, 2019 NEW
We've been staying here for years and there seems to be a decline in the maintenance. Very disappointed to see the outside pools were closed and the indoor pool was too cold to use. At minimum, staff should inform people making reservations that some of the facilities are closed. Simply put, if the kids cannot get exercise we have to find a new place to stay. The room rate is based market value of that day and anywhere will provide a room for the same rate.

"Neisha & Logan-Rod Run Weekend"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

My boyfriend & I stay at the spirit of the smokies which is now, (Grand Smokies Resort Lodge) twice a year every year for rod run weekend. We absolutely love it here. The staff members have great customer service & Chloe is a huge asset to your company! The rate for rod run is pricey no matter where you stay due to it being such a busy weekend but if you stay here, it is totally worth paying whatever the price may be. I recommend booking with the hotel directly, you will run into less problems in future stays and it will be more beneficial to you! We always stay in the same room facing the parkway. Room was clean, housekeeping staff as well as front desk are very courteous and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel. Great for families or couples. A huge thank you to everyone at this amazing establishment for everything you do!! See you in September!!!!!😊😊

"ROOM WAS OKAY BUT POOL IS DANGEROUS!!!!"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5
Reviewed April 20, 2019
First, after reading the reviews before we made the reservations, we were very skeptical and hesitant. We decided to give it a try. In once sense, I am glad we did, but the other....not so much. The room was okay. Like I said, we were expecting the worst. It was clean, tidy and VERY spacious. I always take my cleaner and Lysol with me anywhere I go, but when I wiped everything down with their white rag, the rag was still relatively clean. Normal yuck on it. I was totally okay with that, and that includes wiping down the entire bathroom and bathroom floor. The only negative about the room was the comforter. It was a bit dated..about 20 years old, but other than that, everything about the room was acceptable. (We never use the comforter anyway, so it really wasn’t an issue) Here was the REAL ISSUE..... THE POOL!!!! The slide was great. The size of the pool was good. There needs to be more seating. The amount of chlorine they use in the pool is unacceptable. The minute you walk in, your eyes start to burn as well as your nose. You cannot see the bottom of the pool which is the second clue something is wrong with the chemicals. I would rather have too much chlorine than not enough, but this was too excessive. My daughters eyes were red and swollen that night. She started coughing and ended up sick. We reported it to the lady at the front desk and she said she would call maintenance. That was the am. We left for the day and can back late that night.....the pool was still the same. No change. We told them again and got the same answer, “we will call maintenance”. They said it was the ventilation. My husband is a certified “pool man” and he said that has nothing to do with the ventilation. The chemicals were way off. DANGEROUSLY off. Our daughters eyes are still swollen and she is still coughing!!! This is not acceptable. I filed a complaint, and asked if they had a specialized pool person or just the everyday maintenance man. I was told that the maintenance man takes care of the pool. That’s a problem. As I was talking with the front desk manager, two other people were making the same comments that I was. They are aware of this problem, and I hope they get it fixed before someone seriously gets ill from this. I was also told, while filing the complaint, that although people complain, unless they fill out a complaint, there is NO record of the complaint. That’s ridiculous!

I am confused. We had 2 rooms 1 for me and hubby one for daughter and hubby. They left after the 3 or 4 days. Then do to pollen we got sick on our stay didnt get to do much so we extended our stay. We was here 10 days. We was on our bikes it was 44 degrees so we couldn't ride. So we got a call from the manager saying 7 days is a max you can stay. As long as you got money to pay i didnt think it matters. Then we put the thing on the door while we was asleep or in shower then take it off door. Housekeeping came in we tipped them almost each day. Im just confused i didnt think it mattered how long you stay as long as you paid. They said we have to leave tomorrow but could return next week. Our room was kept clean housekeeping was nice. We like it here. So what do we do our family is coming tbis summer for 2 week vacation but they tell us there's a 7 day max stay
