from Grand Circle Island Tour - Hawaii Island
This daylong adventure is the perfect showcase for the Big Island’s most unique sights and locations. It’s a great way to explore this fascinating place.

There will be a stop at Royal Kona Coffee in the midst of the coffee-growing region. It’s a remarkable place of organic beauty. The lush coffee bean trees seem to spring up among the other island foliage. The area also overlooks Kealakekua Bay, offering spectacular views of its pristine waters.

Then visit lava fields where various shades of solidified lava reveal the entire island’s past volcanic activity. You’ll actually be able to see a distinct dividing line where the lava fields end and the lush farmland begins. While you enjoy the changing landscape, you’ll want to prepare yourself for a visit to the nearby is Punaluu Beach, the amazing black sand beach where sea turtles often nest.

Next, you’ll be on your way to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You’ll begin at the Kilauea Visitor Center and Volcano House. Be on the lookout for the active, smoldering crater nearby. Active volcanoes are still present and continuing to add to the landscape of dried lava flow. Here is also where you’ll find Mauna Loa, the world’s largest volcano, and Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano. If the conditions are safe, you’ll actually circle a crater when you ride along Crater Rim Drive.

"Great stay at Big Island Retreat"

My husband and I spent a week at Big Island! Great location to many beaches. Jenny and Britanny were so helpful. The resort has equipment u can borrow- lawn chairs, coolers, surf boards, snorkel gear etc... Our room had a small fridge and microwave so we did all over our cooking in the community kitchen. Guests leave surplus foods, tinfoils, spices so tigers can share.. keeps cost lower if you do an inventory before going shopping . There is a bbq and large 3 stove .. plates and cutlery are available as well We would definitely stay there again!! Thanks Jenny and Brittany!! You were great!

"Beds need replacement-- very loud and saggy---also loud neighborhood"

if you are 20 and don't care if the bed has big valleys and creeks each time you move at night, you are fine. But for a person over 40 the bed we had in the Honu suite was horrifying. the place is cute and close to a great beach however. The pounding (construction) of the neighbors with the new building we left after 1 day having paid for 4. the other problem is that you have to use the one sink for both washing hands/Bathroom AND for dishes. Very unsanitary (I am a nurse...) But if you want cheap and don't care about bed (or if they replace it) it's a great location. well decorated.

"Great Place for a Vacation Stay"

This is a great relaxing place to stay in Kona area. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and the staff are very nice. This is not a cookie cutter resort with the "usual " rooms and facilities. Each room is different and a lot like a home. We will definatly stay here on our next trip to the big island.

i arrived in the dark - after closing hours - so it's a good thing the office manager contacted me earlier and gave me her number. otherwise i would have arrived at my 'surfer' room and wondered where my bed & bathroom were hiding. there is a reason there are no pictures of it. until now. the room was clean, but it has a pull out sofa with a mattress pad about 2 1/2 inches thick and no sheets. AND the bathroom was in the next building. so if you are a person who needs to visit the loo in the middle of the night, get dressed first. and collect all your things before you head over for a shower, otherwise, get dressed again. since i am an older person, this was definitely not for me. i called the manager in the morning and she arranged for me to change rooms to the 'maile' room. SO glad because this was a great room, view towards the ocean and comfortable bed. if i would not have been able to change, i would have had to leave and find other accommodations. THANK YOU JENNY for helping me with the room; the staff here is great, but BEWARE OF YOUR ROOM SELECTION!!

Big island retreat is a beautiful vacation rental where you can relax with family and enjoy the beach which is across the street. There are grocery stores movie theaters and different type restaurants just 3 min away. The manager Jenny and housekeeper Brittany are amazing and help you with everything and anything you need. Jenny answers the phone 24/7 so there is never a worry that my questions won’t get answered they also have great suggestions on where to go hiking, snorkeling, and where to enjoy a nice dinner. Will definitely be returning!!
