"Would not recommend"
February 2019
Booked on Third Party site: Reserve Pigeon Forge, called them before booking on the site to make sure the price was the best price. Told the person who answered the phone that the main reason we are booking their Motel was because of the indoor pool and the breakfast. When we arrived, the person who checked us in, told us the pool was out of service. I told her that was the main reason why we booked their Motel. I decided to at least look at the room. We get in the room and there was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom, the sink handle would come off in your hand and the refrigerator door would not close, if there was any weight in the refrigerator. We ask the front desk to have maintenance come and give us a toilet paper holder. When they got to the room, they told us the front desk should have told us that their our sites will allow us to swim at their indoor pools. I am not usually one to complain about my stay at a motel, but this place was not cheap, we called them and they never said anything about the pool being under renovations, the attendant never told us about being able to swim at other sites and this was just all around a very poor experience. I would not recommend this motel at all!!!!! If you want to be screwed and not told about issues at your motel you're stay at, then go ahead and stay at Econo Lodge Riverside.

"Beautiful Room, Snarky Service"

The hotel was clean, I received a map to my room, nothing in my room was broken, there was a nice little kitchenette area next to the bathroom, the lobby was beautiful, and I slept better here than at many hotels I've had to use in the past year. However, when I asked for my receipt in the morning, the clerk expressed displeasure that I needed my receipt. I explained that the receipt at check-in did not list the taxes or check-out time, that my work required that data for their expense reports, and that every EconoLodge I've been to always gave me a receipt automatically when I checked-out in the morning. She frowned, complained, and after a while finally gave me my receipt.

This place is average, you get what you pay for... some pro's and con's... Pro's: It's in a great location, close to restaurants & attractions, right on the parkway. It has a peaceful flowing river at the back of the property. Check in/out was simple, staff at front desk was friendly. Place seems clean and well kept. Room was ok, pretty clean, shower was clean and good water pressure.... Con's: the bed wasn't hard as a rock, but wasn't the most comfortable either, just average comfort at best. The breakfast tastes very bland, the gravy was runny and had no flavor, and the eggs tasted like powder. The river at the back of the property had a walkway and there's geese/ducks/pigeons. They keep a little thing where you drop a quarter and you get food to feed them, which keeps them hanging around, and there was droppings everywhere, you couldn't walk back there without stepping in it. Also, while parking one night after coming back to the hotel from dinner, there was a strong smell of marijuana coming from down by the river, as we were in the parking lot, a female employee and a friend of her's (who I assume wasn't an employee) came walking back up towards the hotel from down by the river where the smell of marijuana was coming from, I can only assume that the employee met her friend on a break and went down by the river to smoke marijuana, because they were the only ones in the area besides me and my wife. And the worst thing about the trip, is that we had a hard time sleeping because the room would get really hot at night. We had the air conditioner in the room on the coldest setting, and it was still very hot, to the point we had to open the door to the room for 20-30 minutes in the middle of the night to let the outside air cool the room off. They could really use better air conditioners in the room..... In the end, I would say this place is about average, and you get what you pay for. The only thing that was awful was the air conditioner in the room, the other things weren't that big of a deal. Staff seemed nice, place seemed well taken care of, and it's in a good location.

This was the 4th stop on our road-trip and the worse accommodations we’ve had so far. Pros: The woman at the front desk was very nice at check-in, nice location very close to all the attractions we visited, the river which runs behind the property is pretty and the fire was a nice touch. Cons: Right away my daughter noticed that the sink was leaking where the faucet attached to the basin, the room was either freezing or extremely hot no matter what temp the AC/Heating unit was on...so much so that I actually got sick during our last night from the heat and just turned the entire unit off. The tub has built in texture-grippers which require more cleaning and that apparently hasn’t been done on a regular basis as the bottom of the tub was grey. The toilet was not properly affixed to the floor and rocked each time someone sat on it and was leaking from the base so much that I had to put towels down to soak up the freezing water. The microwave is put in a particle wood cabinet which was peeling and terribly gouged. Very basic sub-par breakfast, the sausage gravy has absolutely NO flavor at all and the pineapple-orange juice was a neon orange color. The laundry room was kept at an extremely high temperature with no way to adjust...I mean HOT! The pool was so heavily chlorinated that the smell was overpowering (if you are sensitive to chemical smells don’t ask for a poolside room and don’t use the laundry facilities; it’s bad). I checked out via phone and started to tell the the clerk about the toilet and sink but once I let her know that I was checking out she was like okay, click. Ummm...okay, no “thanks for staying at our property”, no “have a nice day”, no “how was your stay?”...nada. Even If you are on an extreme budget, I think you can find better accommodations, but if not please be prepared. With all the competition on that strip, it’s a shame this property does not try harder. First impressions are the most important, therefore I will never stay at another EconoLodge anywhere if this is considered a top EconoLodge property.

Came for a weekend with family over spring break. Staff was friendly, pool was nice, breakfast was good and all amenities were there. Not really enough parking for when the hotel is full. Bed was hard but this was not really the kind of trip to relax anyway.

"Another wonderful visit!"

Based upon our first stay at the Econolodge Riverside in Oct. 2019, we decided to return for another visit. I admittedly was worried that it wouldn’t meet my expectations because we previously had such a great experience. Thankfully, we once again had a wonderful stay. This is now our preferred place to stay in the Smokies! It seems to be well managed and has attentive staff. We booked a Double Queen Poolside room. Our room was very clean and looked like it had been recently updated. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, and it was literally steps from our room to the pool area. The breakfast was hot and plentiful. The staff is extremely friendly and were appreciative of our repeat business. And my sons loved seeing Chief again! The only negatives are that the hotel is not at a stoplight so exiting might take a while during high traffic, the key cards for our room took multiple swipes to work (but always eventually did), and it’s a big step down from the bathtub to the floor (but this is marked prominently with a warning sign). I cannot reiterate enough how much value Econolodge Riverside offers. It’s affordable, clean, comfortable, and well-located. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
