"Worse vacation in quite a while"
October 2016
First of all Dayton House has 3 buildings. We were given a room in the one across the street from the beach . Don't ever stay there. we were startled awake every morning by a noise. The final straw came when they were repairing the roof, much banging and hammering and we were not warned nor offered a different room while this was going on. When I called the front desk they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about but said that he would call us back. Never received a call back. Secondly, do not be deceived by the name,no way was that a RESORT. There was a red stain on the carpet and on the mattress, I'll let you decide what that might have been.

"Wonderful! But needs more handicap parking.."
June 2016
I just returned from my first trip to Myrtle Beach. The Dayton House is a great place to stay. We had a beautiful, clean partial ocean view room, and the hotel has three pools, two Jacuzzis, and a lazy river. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and they are a short distance from the fabulous Broadway on the Beach. The grounds at the Dayton House were immaculately kept. It's a great place for families. And the price was very reasonable, a great value for what you get. The only problem I had was parking..We had a disabled adult that's in a wheelchair and it was really hard finding handicap parking. I had to drop that person off and then park a distance from the motel which I wasn't fond of but I would still recommend the Dayton House.

"Relaxing At The Dayton House Resort"
July 2015
This was our first time staying in Myrtle Beach and we took a chance booking a Hotel we had never been to. We had a great stay. We were upgraded to a ocean view suite as soon as we checked in. The yello umbrella area was a great addition to our stay. Never had to worry about finding a place to lay out and enjoy the ocean. The pools were fantastic and not overly crowded. We plan to come back again next year, because this Hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants and fun places to go.

We had a great view of the ocean from our room, but that was the only thing to write home about. The room was an older room and you could tell it had been remodeled several times.

We were able to check in early and our room was very nice, functional room for the money. We didn't use any of the facilities, but other than a noisy shower we were very satisfied and got what we paid for. We have stayed here before and will again

Always great to be here! Clean, comfortable, quiet, large sunning lawn, great amenities and smiling faces! Great hot, free breakfast. Its always so nice to be welcomed back by such friendly folks. Almost all of their units will soon be updated. A great deal of care and thought has been out into the remodeling. Beautiful! A wonderful Valentine's weekend.

Wow, Where to start....I needed to get away from personal bad news that I received few days earlier. I had to have quadruple open heart bypass surgery a week away and The Dayton House was my answer. From the time arrived til the time I departed it was another 5 star experience. Please excuse me but I want to say "Adam" at the front desk is Top of the Line. Please forgive me if I have his name mistaken but he knows and the front desk employee's definitely know whom I'm speaking about. He shared with me a similar experience he had and instantly my fear relaxed some and I was able to enjoy a 2 night stay. I also had there comp. Breakfast which was great!! I will be back as soon as I can drive again and I'm glad to say the operation was successful but the journey just started. The Dayton House is my go to place even in the winter! I give my consent to management to share my review with all parties. Thanks again, I am, cew3rd folly beach, sc 29439

We booked the 1 bedroom suite. The room was nice, kitchen looked updated. Balcony on the water was great! We had one issue that they immediately resolved at at 12 AM and the staff was super nice. I removed a star for the loud slamming door that woke us up every morning from housekeeping. It slammed over and over again and startled me out of sleep every morning. I was going to say something before we left but the gentlemen at the desk was on the phone and we were in a hurry to make it somewhere. Overall it was a nice hotel. We used all the hot tubs (indoor and out), the pools and the sauna. It’s close to stores and there is enough to do off season to keep you busy.

My husband and I arrived late Thursday Friday morning we got up went across the street for breakfast then came back to the room to get ready to start our day. I took a shower and when I got out it was my husbands turn. I decided while he was showering I would go out on to the balcony to let my hair dry. I went to open the balcony sliding door, it wasn’t sliding the smoothest but before I knew it the door had came off track causing me loose my balance and myself and the door landed out on the balcony. The door rested against the railing, I was trying to keep from landing on the door and having it shatter so some how I landed to the left of the door just in front the the heating/cooling unit. It knocked my glasses off my face and addled me. After I gathered myself I started hollering for my husband to help me. He hurried out of the shower, put some clothes on and came checked on me then dialed 0 to call for help. Front desk answered and he stated “ the balcony door fell with his wife and we need someone to room 642.” Front desk stated they would send someone up. I just sat in a chair on the balcony waiting, the door was blocking the door way keeping me from entering back into the room. About 5 minutes later maintenance showed up, he moved the door so I could get back into the room and he started putting the door back up. He let us know the doors are older and they can easily get off track and when that happens it’ll fall off. He put the door back on left our room. At that time all I could see was a cut on the second toe on my right foot. We finished getting ready to go do some shopping and grab lunch. While out and about I noticed my feet started hurting considerably, I took my shoes off to find both feet bruised black and blue and swollen. We decided it was best to go back to the room and prop them up and take some otc medication. Once we arrived back at Dayton House we went into the office to notify them of the bruising and swelling. Dennis, Hattie and John were behind the counter. I started telling them about my feet. They all apologized and said they weren’t aware I was hurt when the door fell. Hattie ask if she could take a look, I said yes so she walked out from behind the desk. After seeing my feet she stated I needed to be checked out by a medical professional and X-rays. She walked back behind the desk to see if an incident report had been made, at that time she said one had not but she was going to have John (the manager) make one that way if/when I went to have my feet examined they would have proof it happened there. I told her I didn’t have the extra money to cover a medical exam out of my insurances network. She assured me Dayton House was responsible for the medical due to it happening on their property. She was so helpful and honestly concerned about my wellbeing. She recommended icing my feet and waiting until the next day to have my feet checked in case the ice helped and didn’t require medical. I ask if she would be there the next day (Saturday) in case I needed to go to the hospital, she said no, but John the manager would be and he could assist me. I said okay, she got Johns attention and he agreed, that if I felt that I needed to have my feet checked the next day just to come down and he’d get it took care of. Again I stated my concern with being out out network, no extra money and not sure where to go. I was once again told Dayton House was responsible and an incident report had been made and also they would be able to tell me where I needed to go when/if I decided to seek treatment. My husband and I left the lobby, I went up to our room. Iced my feet, took two ibuprofen and elevated my feet until it was time for our dinner reservation. It hurt so bad to walk, but our dinner reservation had been paid for in advance and I didn’t want to loose $150 dollars. So we went, after dinner we immediately came back to the room, I took more medicine and went to bed. The following morning (Saturday) my feet were bruised more than the day before, swollen double in size and I couldn’t move several toes. My husband and I walked down to the lobby where John and Dennis was and I told John I needed to have my feet checked and expressed my concern with the bruising and swelling and also that I thought at least two toes were broken/dislocated, he told me it wasn’t up to him to have my feet checked. If I felt medical treatment was necessary I would have to pay for it. I said that is not what you told me yesterday and I don’t have the extra money to do so. I said I did not come on vacation expecting to have a several hundred dollar medical bill. He said well that’s where we stand if you want your feet checked you’ll have to pay for it. I got upset and we left. After about an hour I returned to the lobby and ask for a copy of the incident report, I thought if I had a copy of that maybe when I went to the hospital they could see it happened at the Dayton House and could bill them instead of me paying upfront and out of pocket. John told me I couldn’t get a copy of the report because that was against company policy. I said then how do I have proof that the accident happen here. He(John) just completely ignored me. I said so you’re telling me due to a faulty door at your report that caused harm to my body you are refusing me medical treatment and a copy of the incident report. He (John) said I’m not refusing you treatment you can go if you want but you’ll be the one patient for it and the report you don’t need that’s for us only. I told him a few choice words, I’m not going to lie I was upset. Then he(John) had the nerve to tell my husband he denied me medical treatment when he called to report the door had fell. My husband spoke up and stated he was lying he never ask if I was hurt and he never expressed if I was or was not because he wasn’t aware at that time. I stated that if I had to pay for my own medical exam I would not be spending the last night of my reservation there because I would have to travel 6 hours back home to where my medical insurance would cover the exam. I ask for a refund, he said he could do that but with it being 10:35am we had less than 30 minutes to check out. I said that was perfectly fine and we went to get our belongings. When I returned to the lobby John was no where to be found, but Dennis was there and he was apologizing for everything that had happened and as I was talking to him I started to cry telling him I wasn’t sure what to do since I was unable to get a copy of the incident report. He said you are entitled to get a copy for your records, I said well John refused me a copy. He said I can get you a form to complete and I can get you a copy. I thanked him 100 times over, he got me the form, I completed it and he got me a copy of the report. He also gave me their fax number to send all of my medical bills too. Since having a copy of the report I decided to attempt to get medial treatment there. I went to the hospital in Little River due to their ER wait time being less. They accepted the report Dennis gave me and I didn’t have to pay out of pocket. After the exam and X-rays, the conclusion is; I have pulled ligaments in both feet and two broke toes, one on each foot. I am to repeat the X-rays in a couple days to see if there is any more damage seen after some of the swelling subsides. After the way John acted I will never return to Dayton House. Hattie and Dennis were amazing, John should take tips from them! They were truly concerned with the events that took place, John could careless. I will be submitting my medical bills to the fax number provided and if they don’t get paid in a timely fashion I will obtain an attorney. I’m not looking for compensation for myself, I just want things to be done the right way and my medical bills paid. Not once has John said I’m sorry this has happened to you. Our weekend getaway was ruined due do a faulty door causing injuries.
