"Worse vacation in quite a while"
October 2016
First of all Dayton House has 3 buildings. We were given a room in the one across the street from the beach . Don't ever stay there. we were startled awake every morning by a noise. The final straw came when they were repairing the roof, much banging and hammering and we were not warned nor offered a different room while this was going on. When I called the front desk they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about but said that he would call us back. Never received a call back. Secondly, do not be deceived by the name,no way was that a RESORT. There was a red stain on the carpet and on the mattress, I'll let you decide what that might have been.

"Wonderful! But needs more handicap parking.."
June 2016
I just returned from my first trip to Myrtle Beach. The Dayton House is a great place to stay. We had a beautiful, clean partial ocean view room, and the hotel has three pools, two Jacuzzis, and a lazy river. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and they are a short distance from the fabulous Broadway on the Beach. The grounds at the Dayton House were immaculately kept. It's a great place for families. And the price was very reasonable, a great value for what you get. The only problem I had was parking..We had a disabled adult that's in a wheelchair and it was really hard finding handicap parking. I had to drop that person off and then park a distance from the motel which I wasn't fond of but I would still recommend the Dayton House.

"Relaxing At The Dayton House Resort"
July 2015
This was our first time staying in Myrtle Beach and we took a chance booking a Hotel we had never been to. We had a great stay. We were upgraded to a ocean view suite as soon as we checked in. The yello umbrella area was a great addition to our stay. Never had to worry about finding a place to lay out and enjoy the ocean. The pools were fantastic and not overly crowded. We plan to come back again next year, because this Hotel is centrally located with plenty of restaurants and fun places to go.

We had a great view of the ocean from our room, but that was the only thing to write home about. The room was an older room and you could tell it had been remodeled several times.

We were able to check in early and our room was very nice, functional room for the money. We didn't use any of the facilities, but other than a noisy shower we were very satisfied and got what we paid for. We have stayed here before and will again

We stayed at Dayton House 8.11.19 to 8.17.19. This was our 3rd time staying there and it will most likely be our last. Check in was fine, but our room wasn't ready. Not a huge deal, they call your cell and let you know, but you have to wait in line again for your keys. We were in the Suites building rm 761. There is a tiny garage (low clearence - so no vans or full-size SUVs) the first 3 levels of the building, or you can park in a surface lot across the street. Got to our room and found the door unlocked!! Our suite was pretty typical 2 beds, a closet, a dresser & flat screen TV in one room, connected to the kitchen area, full size sink, stove, fridge/freezer, small bathroom, and living room area with dining table, couch, chair, dresser with 2nd flat screen TV, wall bed and sliding doors to beachfront balcony. A little smaller than I was expecting, but not bad. The kitchen was updated with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, but the rest of the decor could have used a liitle help. Head down to the pool area and find out the hot tub by the north pool is not working. No sign or anything indicating it is out of order, just watch guest after guest trying to turn on the jets. Called the front desk to report the broken hot tub when we returned to our room Sunday evening. Housekeeping was a joke! There was a short dark hair on the back of the toilet when we got there - you didn't see it if the lid was up, but when you closed the lid to flush, there it was! Gross! Monday morning housekeeping knocked at our door at 8:50 am. Told them we were not ready and to please come back later. Went down to the beach/pools around 9:45, placing the please make up our room sign on the door. Come back around 2:45, see housekeeping in the hall, working in the room 2 doors down, and get to our room to discover they had not cleaned our room yet! Okay, we will walk down to Ben & Jerry's, get a snack, and by the time we get back they will have cleaned our room! Nope!!! No housekeeping on Monday. Called the front desk, they sent some clean towels....big whoop! Tuesday, we were gone most of the day and housekeeping actually showed up. They made the beds, emptied the garbage, replaced the towels, but that hair on the toilet? Still there! Ugh! Btw, the north hot tub still not working, still no sign indicating it was out of order. Wednesday, Dh actually asked the housekeeper to specifically clean the toilet, and guess what? That darn hair was STILL THERE! They never vacuumed! On Thursday, they made the beds in the bedrooms, but never touched the living room area! Friday, no one showed up at all, again! Had to call down for towels again - they never even offered an apology for the lack of housekeeping. Oh, and they brought the towels up while we left for dinner, and left the door unlocked!!! Luckily, nothing was missing, but again, no apology was offered!! They did finally get that hot tub running by Wednesday, but Friday, the main pool was roped off most of the day for some sort of repair. I was really disappointed by the lack of customer service at this resort. Pools were dirty - like people ripped up paper and threw it in the pool, and nobody bothered to clean it. Litter on the grounds....like no one even cared. Would not reccomend.

"The worst hotel I've ever been to"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

First of all, I'm not a picky person but this place was the worst we've ever been to. We booked RENOVATED room, and it was very far from being decent. We arrived with infant, checked in and went to see our room. First of all, doors leading to the balcony weren't locking all the way, carpet had multiple stains, mirrors were not even cleaned from soap splashes from previous guests, pack and play we got for our infant had multiple stains and wasn't even locking. List can go on and on. Thank God I booked my vacation thru Chase Travel and had travel protection. I called the company immediately and was able to get full refund. I had to search for a new hotel room in the Myrtle beach in August when all properties are 95% booked( needles to say I had to pay extra for last minute reservations). Plus extra taxi ride in the rain with 6 month old. I was very impressed with front desk receptionist who never even apologized for our terrible experience. (I know all of this is out of his control but customer service should be his priority) My advice do not even consider this property, take your business somewhere else so you won't need to search for hotel last minute like we did.

"Classic Resort in Myrtle Beach offering Great Value for the Money"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5
Reviewed August 10, 2019 NEW
First family trip to Myrtle Beach and also our first stay here. When we arrived, our first impression was the place was extremely dated. Well, it is dated. It's an older property. But, it is definitely well maintained. The room was larger than most modern places we stayed at elsewhere on our trip. Some updates in the shower and fixtures throughout helped too. Very comfortable beds and great A/C for a good night sleep. The amenities like pools, lazy river, and whirlpools at the resort are plentiful and clean. What was advertised is definitely accessible, well kept, and was enjoyable to use even if crowded. The free breakfast was across the street, along with parking, but the walk there (and anywhere around the property) was very short. Nothing too spread out. This place is popular for good reason and you can't beat the value they offer here. It is clear why people return here year after year.

Let me start by saying I am not a picky person. This place needs a complete redo. Been here since Sunday and room has not been serviced once. No trash emptied, no fresh towels, no replenishing of soap shampoo etc. parking is a complete nightmare. Kids running wild with no supervision. Can’t use pools jacuzzis lazy river. They all think the pools are babysitting service. While mom and dad are lounging about somewhere kids are uncontrollable. Won’t be returning to this so called resort. The only reason one star is new room Renovation. A 15 story hotel and a 3 story parking garage????? And most of those spots are taken by rentable golf carts????? You all can have it
