"Best part of our island visit"

We couldn't have asked for a more excellent experience. Wyatt was our guide for a 3-hour kayak tour in early September - he was knowledgable, entertaining and professional. We enjoyed our time with him and learned about the history of the islands and its wildlife. During our trip, we were fortunate to see several animals, including porpoises, which we know is a very rare experience for kayakers. Highly recommend this experience for anyone wanting to see and experience the most incredibly views and the best of what Washington has to offer. Ask for Wyatt! We'll for sure go back next time we're visiting the islands.

"Fantastic trip: great guides"

this company is excellent. The guides were fun, knowledgeable, adapted really well to our group and were good with people of all ages. Food was fantastic and the gear was top notch. We cycled for a day on San Juan Island then did a 3 day / 2 night kayak camping trip and had a blast. Couldn't have been better. Ryder and Claiborne were out guides and both were fantastic.

"Excellent Stuart Island 3 day kayak trip "
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed August 17, 2020
We went on a 3 day kayak trip to Stuart Island. From the beginning, it was easy to plan, coordinate and communicate with the tour company. Our guide, Wyatt, was thorough, kind, creative, fun and truly treasured the islands. He took our needs and desires into consideration as we were kayaking. The kayaking trip was gorgeous; we saw seals, eagles, porpoises, deer, and beautiful sunsets etc. We were lucky to experience bioluminescence as well! I would highly recommend this trip and company for any outdoor enthusiast.

"A Wonderful 'Whale-of-a-Time' (sorry, couldn't resist)"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed July 28, 2020
My spouse and I spent most of this July on San Juan Island for a "kayak vacation" and San Juan Outfitters in Roche Harbor truly made it awesome. We had kayaked with them occasionally in previous years but made them the centerpiece for this trip. During three weeks we took eleven (!) tours with them - almost all 5-hour "day trips" plus a night bioluminescence tour. We met many of their different guides because we took a new trip every other day. They were consistently professional, friendly, knowledgeable, and safety conscious. Due to the depressed tourist traffic we were the only guests on a few of the tours, but on others the other guests ranged from children to extreme-sport enthusiasts. The guides handled this wide range of abilities and interests with professionalism, safety-consciousness, and humor. The other reviews hint at the wonders of nature seen in this area and our trips were no exception. In addition we were privileged to watch orcas dance around us during one of the trips. We depended upon San Juan Island Outfitters to make our vacation sink-or-swim (sorry again), and Brian, Emily and the rest of the San Juan Island Outfitters crew made it soar. Miriam & Bruce

Very professional kayaks, gear, instruction and guides. Low key but fun exploitation. Especially licked the unique chance to raft on a kelp bed to rest and have a nature talk.
