Description

from The Carolina Opry
If you only see one show, this is the one! The Carolina Opry has won every major South Carolina tourism award, including Most Outstanding Attraction and the prestigious Governor's Cup. Year after year, The Carolina Opry is voted the Best Show by the readers of the Myrtle Beach Sun News, a Knight-Ridder newspaper. And it’s the only show that has been featured on NBC Nightly News, CNN, TNN, and USA Today.

Entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore launched The Carolina Opry on South Carolina's Grand Strand in 1986. His live music variety show features a cast of over 35 of the nation's top singers, dancers, comedians, and musicians in its own 2200-seat show palace with state-of-the-art sound and lighting and three giant video screens. The show, which is continually updated with new music and comedy, is two hours of high energy entertainment that blends humor and dancing with everything from rock 'n roll, Broadway, and country to classic hits, pop melodies, and gospel. Young and old are counted among its fans, who are sure to include a performance in their visit to Myrtle Beach.

In November and December, Christmas decor at The Carolina Opry Theater has been elevated to a high art form—an attraction in and of itself. In a dramatic one-week shut-down, the transformation into a winter wonderland begins as the crew spends all night and the entire following week preparing over 35 Christmas trees, 75 wreaths, 5 miles of tree lighting wire, countless tree ornaments, and mounds of Christmas snow, all presided over by the stunning 30-foot tree with more than 25,000 lights. House photographers are available for family photos in front of the splendid tree—many of them ending up on family Christmas cards.

"Geared toward an older crowd"
February 2024
My wife and I (in our forties) and our teenage kids attended. In the first half, our kids knew 1 song (Shallow by Gaga/Cooper) and my wife and I knew 3 (Landslide/Fleetwood Mac, Shallow, and a heavily modified Dave Matthews song). The average age in attendance was 60-70 with very few families. There was some problem with Tripster's ticketing as we were waiting for 10-15 mins to get our tickets as it required the worker to talk with the manager several times while most people walked up gave their name and were on their way in a few seconds. This is the only show we've ever left at intermission.

"Vibrant Lively Show"
June 2019
The show exceeded expectations. The variety and level of entertainment was outstanding. The cast consists of a wonderfully talented group of singers, dancers and musicians plus a very funny comedian and a world class and very talented group of cloggers. Their synchronized performance was incredible. The outfits, the staging and the choreography was top notch. The two hour show was at a very professional level in very way. We were certainly impressed and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. However, we have to say the volume needs to be toned down. It was at an uncomfortable level at times.

"Loudest concert I have ever been too!"
June 2019
I was really excited to go to this concert. The auditorium was half full. When the music started, the sound was so loud, it actually hurt my ears. I have been to more concerts than I can count. I barely made it to half-time and I had to leave. A couple, with small children, was sitting in front of me and the children started to cry. They also left. I don't understand this. Surely, they had to know that the sound volume was way too much.

August 2018
I was in total shock from from the first chord. This ensemble is truly worth EVERY DIME and then some! If you love music from the 60's, 70's and 80's you will NOT be disappointed with Time Warp!! Sometimes you forget that these are not the original recording artists. Just GO.
