Description

from Bryce Canyon National Park Tour
From Las Vegas, we will journey through Nevada and Arizona on our way to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Traversing the towering walls of the Virgin River Gorge, which connects the Southwestern rim of the Colorado Plateau and the Northeastern edge of the Mojave Desert, is a true hidden gem along the route to Bryce Canyon. The natural amphitheater of Bryce features stunning rock pinnacles, called “hoodoos”, which are formed by wind and water erosion and transcend 2000 feet of elevation as well as vibrant sandstone colors that are a photographers dream! The stunning views are only matched by its ruggedness, and as Ebenezer Bryce once said, Bryce Canyon is "A hell of a place to lose a cow."

During your full-day tour, you will be treated to amazing panoramic views of the famous “hoodoos” and 100-mile vistas across Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument. Escalante Grand Staircase and Bryce spans three distinct climate type, each with its own unique characteristics; Spruce and Fir Forests, Ponderosa Pine Forests, and Pinyon Pine and Juniper Forests. During your guided tour, you will have approximately three hours to explore Bryce Canyon National Park, with visits to multiple rims overlooks including Inspiration Point, Sunrise Point, and Sunset Point. For a more casual experience, you will be able to take a relaxing, scenic walk among the hoodoos on one of the park's well-maintained trails.

"DETOURS IS THE BEST"

In mid-May of 2020, Jeff Slade, the owner of DETOURS put together a private tour of southwest AZ for me and my husband. This was not an east considering the fact that AZ was still in lockdown mode due to CORONA. Fortunately, on May 15, just 4 days prior to our scheduled arrival into Phoenix, AZ Governor Doug Ducey, lifted the shelter-in-place. order. That said, it would likely take a couple of weeks for merchants, restaurants, hotels, and state parks to re-open, In spite of the many challenge, Jeff put together an historical and beautiful tour, complemented by Jeff's vast knowledge of the history of the southwest, We highly recommend DETOURS for your next trip!

"Best Tour Company EVER"

I have run multiple trips for family friends in both Europe and the United States. In all this time, I am amazed at the service, expertise and helpfulness in putting our tour of the American Southwest Parks including the Grand Canyon. They delivered on every request for our group of well traveled New Yorkers. Kyle and Jeff even provide their personal cell numbers. What is even more amazing is the compassion the owner, Jeff Slade has shown when we sadly had to cancel our late September, 2020 trip. He was well aware of the pain that our New York City Metro area is experiencing due to Corvid 19 Virus. At the time of the cancellation, Jeff has given us a FULL REFUND with no questions asked, only concern for our safety. I give Detours American West my highest recommendation and once things get back to normal, we will be rebooking our trip.

"Wonderful Tour of the Navajo Trail and the Dolly Steamboat Ride"

Our tour started out by picking up at our hotel. Montana was our driver and he was a hoot. We really enjoyed having him as our tour guide. As mention above, we were picked up at our hotel on time and we were grateful that we didn't have to drive during rush hour in Phoenix. Anyway, we went to two other hotels to pick-up guests and then we were on our way. Montana gave us a great overview of what we were seeing. I loved the fact that our tour bus was new and only held 12 passengers. The tour was small enough that we all got to know each other and interact. Our first stop was at a place where a lot of westerns had been shot. In fact, the chapel was called the Elvis Chapel because in the movie Charro, that was where he was married. In fact, weddings are still held there. After driving in the desert we stopped at a very rustic restaurant and had a great meal. After that we headed out to meet up with the Dolly Steamboat for our 1.5 hour boat ride. That too was great and very relaxing. After the boat ride we headed back to Phoenix but stopped at an old ghost town. I especially liked the fact that Montana gave us ample time to visit each location along the tour. If you want to enjoy a unique experience, be sure and take the Navajo Trail and Dolly Steamboat Tour. You won't regret it. Also, as mentioned above, Montana was a great tour guide and I really enjoyed his commentary.

My son and I took a day trip to the Grand Canyon. I had been there but my son had not. It was a great trip. Our tour guide was amazing, I don’t remember his name, he was the old guy in the canyon. He was so knowledgeable and interesting. The bus was very comfortable. I would definitely not hesitate to book with DETOURS!
