Named One of the Top Ten Public Gardens in the United States by TripAdvisor! Young visitors love the Enchanted Storybook Forest, a collection of storybook playhouses based on a classic children’s story or nursery rhyme. It has fun interactive elements such as swings, climbing walls, monkey bars and more. Just for kids is the Children’s Discovery Room and the Brookgreen Detectives booklet that gives kids an adventure by following clues, making observations, sketching drawings, and even playing word games. When completed, they turn in the booklet and receive a Brookgreen Detectives sticker and prize!

Kids' also love the daily animal programs Mother Nature's Cafe, where they observe the animals as an interpreter feeds the animals a snack and the interactive Meet the Animals program. We have 'A Garden Room for Children' that stirs young imaginations with displays of plants and sculpture. There are wooded nooks to hide in, things to climb on, and sculptural animals to marvel at. There is even an elevated place for parents to sit and watch the magic of children learning as they play.

Seasonal favorite is the Butterfly House open daily April - October where hundreds of butterflies soar through the air. Tickets are $3 - adults and $2 - children in addition to garden admission for a 30-minute timed visit.

"wonderful day"
March 2015
Really informative. Started with a brief video about the gardens. We received a map and a little information from the welcome center. We chose to do a self guided tour but they offer guided tours for no additional fees. With the one day paid admission you can come back within 7 days for free. The boat tour is fun it's about 45 minutes. The "zoo" as animals of the time period. Lots to learn about slavery times. You will enjoy yourself. Sculptures were amazing.

The pontoon cruise (narrated by Fred) was a great way to spend an hour. The cruise takes you through the old rice plantation grounds and is very educational. The garderns and sculptures are breathtaking. This is a very serene place. There is so much to do and see! Your ticket is good for 7 days. They are open 9:30-5 daily. Check on groupon before buying you ticket, they usually have a deal. This is good for all ages.

Every time I go to Myrtle Beach I go here now. The gardens and statues are lovely. There is a great kids garden and a low country zoo with native wildlife. There are a few extra things you can pay for. At the zoo for a few dollars you can go to the butterfly atrium. There is a pontoon boat tour to talk about the 4 plantations that used to be there. You will also see wildlife along the river. I have done this twice I really enjoy it. This time we also did one of the bus tour of the plantations. It was so interesting but the road is rough. I actually didn't mind, it is an old road built by the colonials (so think dirt path lol). Gives to the character of the times. There are other tours I have yet to take. Tours are not expensive. There is so much to do there that this last time we went twice and before we have been three times, yet we have not done all the stuff there. There is a walking tour of slave life. I am hoping to do next time. Also there is a free tour of the gardens about the Huntingtons. Your ticket is good for an entire week. It's also right across from Huntington Beach and castle, I also recommend that place.

I love Brookgreen Gardens. I have been visiting Brookgreen Garden for several years. I only go to Myrtle Beach once a year and always visit Brookgreen Gardens. Traffic was a bit congested this year because of the Motor Cycle Week which means more traffic, but it was still worth the time. I look forward to my next visit. I wish I lived close and could visit everyday!! There would always be something different to see, hear or learn.

I got to visit the gardens after visiting some friends who had just moved into the Myrtle Beach area. It was a great experience. I took over 500 photos over the two days I was there this past March. The weather was cool but delightful and the gardens and the sculptors amazing. I would definitely go back. I got to tqlkk to one of the docents who had just received her 26 year pin and was an expert on all the plantation owners and their farms in the whole area. She was amazing. Thanks Louise! What a delight she was! I hope I can do as well when I get to be her age! Anyway, They also had a bird sanctuary area so I got to take many great shots of the local birds fishing. Very close and easy to catch their daily routines. I would definitely give it a 5 star rating. A rare fine!
