from Antelope Canyon Day Tour - Las Vegas
Hidden for centuries beneath Native soil, nature has built a cathedral for herself: a slot canyon still unsurpassed in its beauty, the perfect symphony of sand, stone and light, a maze of marble colored rock layers you won’t find anywhere else in the world. In proverbial touch with earth’s past, our Navajo guide leads us through this sacred site.

A visual feast unfolds before our eyes as every step and turns surprises with new sculpture-like spires, delicate arches, and colorful waves. A sandstone spectacle unseen by others, as Antelope Canyon is still being formed by the ferocious forces of seasonal floods. Arguably, not a single disappointing picture has ever been taken in this narrow subterranean ravine. On the contrary, selling for $6.500.000 in 2014, history’s highest-priced photograph was shot right here. But it wouldn’t be DETOURS if Antelope Canyon was the only major attraction we showed you on this tour.

The deep blue waters of man-made Lake Powell appear like a mirage as we approach Indian Country. Yet, its dreamlike shores are real, right where the Great Basin Desert meets monsoon run-offs and molten snow from mountains ranges far away. Just as much a sight to behold is the wallpaper-worthy view of Horseshoe Bend. A short hike takes us to the most captivating curve the Colorado River has carved out on his 1400 mile journey from the Rocky Mountains to the Gulf of California. At this sheer 900ft drop, framed by massive canyon walls, the emerald green sparkly reflections of this ancient stream will surely take your breath away.

This is the opportunity to make memories of a lifetime as “nature at its best” awaits you out west. An extraordinary outdoor experience you do not want to miss. Let DETOURS guide and get you there.

I have run multiple trips for family friends in both Europe and the United States. In all this time, I am amazed at the service, expertise and helpfulness in putting our tour of the American Southwest Parks including the Grand Canyon. They delivered on every request for our group of well traveled New Yorkers. Kyle and Jeff even provide their personal cell numbers. What is even more amazing is the compassion the owner, Jeff Slade has shown when we sadly had to cancel our late September, 2020 trip. He was well aware of the pain that our New York City Metro area is experiencing due to Corvid 19 Virus. At the time of the cancellation, Jeff has given us a FULL REFUND with no questions asked, only concern for our safety. I give Detours American West my highest recommendation and once things get back to normal, we will be rebooking our trip.

"Wonderful Tour of the Navajo Trail and the Dolly Steamboat Ride"

Our tour started out by picking up at our hotel. Montana was our driver and he was a hoot. We really enjoyed having him as our tour guide. As mention above, we were picked up at our hotel on time and we were grateful that we didn't have to drive during rush hour in Phoenix. Anyway, we went to two other hotels to pick-up guests and then we were on our way. Montana gave us a great overview of what we were seeing. I loved the fact that our tour bus was new and only held 12 passengers. The tour was small enough that we all got to know each other and interact. Our first stop was at a place where a lot of westerns had been shot. In fact, the chapel was called the Elvis Chapel because in the movie Charro, that was where he was married. In fact, weddings are still held there. After driving in the desert we stopped at a very rustic restaurant and had a great meal. After that we headed out to meet up with the Dolly Steamboat for our 1.5 hour boat ride. That too was great and very relaxing. After the boat ride we headed back to Phoenix but stopped at an old ghost town. I especially liked the fact that Montana gave us ample time to visit each location along the tour. If you want to enjoy a unique experience, be sure and take the Navajo Trail and Dolly Steamboat Tour. You won't regret it. Also, as mentioned above, Montana was a great tour guide and I really enjoyed his commentary.

My son and I took a day trip to the Grand Canyon. I had been there but my son had not. It was a great trip. Our tour guide was amazing, I don’t remember his name, he was the old guy in the canyon. He was so knowledgeable and interesting. The bus was very comfortable. I would definitely not hesitate to book with DETOURS!

Went on the Sedona Red Rocks tour one day and the Antelope Canyon tour on another. For the Sedona trip, Mack was our driver and guide and he was great. The amount of knowledge and appreciation, and love he has for the area and it's bittersweet history and people really show. He gave us a lot to think about. We definately need to know. The scenery was just AMAZING. Saw Superstition Mtn, got out and got to walk around and see Montezumas Castle - a great example of cliff dwellings, got to see Bell Tower, The Courthouse formation and the Castle formation. Stopped several times to get out and see sights, restroom breaks, and shops. Stopped in a mountain town and got to do whatever we wanted for about 1.5 hrs; several restaurants and shops. About a ten hour day, it was fun. A couple days later did the Antelope Canyon tour. This was an 18 hr day, and worth it. Nathan was the driver/guide and he made it very interesting. We got to stop several times on the way there and back, restroom breaks, shops, sights, a restaurant. We were running early so we got to make an extra stop at a scenic dam. Antelope Canyon is on a Navajo Reservation. Very Important to be respectful to them and the land. From the top, it looks like a giant zipper in the ground, there are many of these canyons, Antelope being the best known. Just the walk to get to the opening is magnificent. Inside the canyon is almost other-worldly. Breathtaking. A must-see. On the way back, we got to stop and hike The Bend canyon. Fantastic. This was a great trip. Even though the drive was 5 hrs each way, it is so scenic it doesn't seem that long. Got to see the sun rise and set. Would do it again.
