First of all the parking is not ideal. They share a public garage and on Saturdays it's sometimes very full. But it's ideally located. Dozens of very good restaurants a bars only feet away. Also the hotel has a second floor balcony bar.

This was our third time staying here. The location cannot be beat. We like this hotel but did notice that the desk staff was not as friendly as usual. The mobile unlock feature for my room never worked. I mentioned this and was told I needed to call support for that. Really??? I used the key cards. Checking in online is pretty much a waste as you need to get your room number and key cards from the desk. The rooms are starting to look more worn.

We stayed here for three nights. It was a comfortable room, it worked. Clean, great location we were able to walk to downtown in five minutes to the Biltmore. Upon check-in we got recommendations for restaurants, views, quick bite, sweets all were good. Nice pool, gym and lobby. Did lots of laundry in the laundry room, it worked well. Enjoyed the waterbar with bags of ice. We didn’t have much of a view, Our room was connected to a large handicap room at the end of the pool. Four young boys were staying in this room; @ 12 to 2 yrs old. It was beyond noisy, it felt like there wasn’t a wall & door between us. In the morning they played ball in front of our door and their was crying from 9:30 until 10:30 pm. We had breakfast in the lobby it worked, we ordered croissants, yogurt and rise and shine with eggs. Very nice. We’ve stayed in other Alofts and were really impressed. This was just okay. We felt it catered to young families & dogs - lots of dogs!

Stayed for 2 nights. Excellent service, quiet rooms. Very comfortable beds. Great location. We were so sad that they didn’t have a foster dog while we were there. Would have loved that! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Great location but I am ambivalent about the overall experience."

I have stayed at this location twice in the last few months. The location in downtown Asheville is ideal, with convenient parking and easy access to the freeway. The hotel is generally very quiet and the rooms are simple but well laid out for a business traveler. I like that the rooms have blackout shades. My first stay, I would say my room appeared to be clean. This most recent stay, I would say I couldn't say for sure it was clean. This is a pet friendly hotel, which I am fine with. I never heard dogs barking or otherwise disturbing guests. But when I walked in to my room, the blinds were wide open with direct sunlight on the carpet and there were 3 gigantic stains on the carpet in the room. As this is a dog friendly hotel, my first thought is that these were dog related stains, and from there on out I never touched the carpet with bare feet. I recognize that those stains could have come from a number of other sources, but I sort of assume the worst. The staff was a mixed bag. The back of the house staff was very friendly, the front desk staff was a little disengaged. I did use the online check in and electronic room key, but you still have to stop by the desk for parking access and to elect an elite benefit. The electronic ( phone) room key is inconsistent so I think I will stick to a plastic key from now on, and will skip online check in. As a titanium elite, you can elect to receive complimentary breakfast. It is a great value and the breakfast options are good. The omelets are great, and they have a wide selection of other items. One of the highlights of the stay was the free coffee. I usually cant stand the complimentary "lobby coffee", but this stuff is so good, I should have asked what coffee they use. I also visited the bar one night. They had good beer on tap, and the service was good. One thing about the location that is totally beyond the hotels control is the homeless problem in downtown. For a city its size, Asheville has an exceptional number of homeless. They have taken over the parks, and I would have a hard time saying I would feel safe having my wife move about unaccompanied at off hours. Overall, I might try a different property next time.
